Ambassador Baptist Church
About us
our story
A few words about us
Ambassador Baptist Church had its beginnings in the home of Pastor Lyle and Helen Neufeld. Seeing the need for the teaching of God’s Word in the town of Morden, the Neufelds began ministering to their own family. Soon friends and other believers began attending the small work and it began to grow. At one point they had 65 people in attendance in their garage.
On March 5, 2000 the group began to rent a room at the Recreational Center where they stayed for nine months. At the end of the year 2000, Ambassador Baptist Church began to rent the old Lutheran church building on the corner at 501 Stephen Street and 10th Street..
On March 5th, 2003 an ordination council was held with local pastors and others from outside the province and Pastor Lyle was ordained for full time ministry. After eleven years at the location, the group was able to purchase the old Catholic Church at 685 Stephen Street where they continue until today.
Their first service at the present location was on December 1st in the year 2012. At the anniversary conference in 2015 the mortgage was paid in full and glory was given to God.
Some of the original and long-time members were Lyle and Helen Neufeld, Raymond and Tena Dell, Harvey Klassen, and Maria Unrau.
In 2019, Terry and Jane Carruthers were called to take the leadership of Ambassador Baptist Church at the Anniversary conference in March of 2020. Their arrival was hindered with the Covid pandemic and their installation service was only able to be held the following July.

Covenant of Ambassador Baptist Church
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and on the profession of our faith, having been scripturally baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
We engage therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to give it a sacred preeminence overall institutions of human origins; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel throughout all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and private devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage, the sale and use of any form of tobacco, and be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy of speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rule of our Savior to secure it without delay.
We moreover, engage that when we remove from this assembly, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church of like faith, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
mission
The Mission and Purpose of Ambassador Baptist Church.
Ambassador Baptist Church is a body of believers that exists to glorify God through our worship to Him and by our fellowship together as a body of believers based upon the Word of God, the proclamation of the gospel and the discipling of converts. It is our desire to develop Christian character and conduct in each individual member, preparing them for Christian service and the defence of the faith while separating from all that dishonors the Lord.
The purpose of Ambassador Baptist Church is to shepherd the entire family and help them grow in grace and spiritual maturity in a world of turmoil. We are an independent Baptist Church, use the King James translation, are conservative in in our ministry and music, and are working towards having classes and activities for all ages.
